Khosla ka Ghosla

October 28, 2007

Movie reviews hasn’t really been the thing on this blog at all but here is a start. I watched this two hour long movie last night. For starters, here is a Hindi movie with no medleys, no love songs, a straight 2 hours of acting.

Set in contemporary South Asia (India), Khosla ka Ghosla deals with the emotions of a young software engineer set to travel to the US to land a dream job leaving behind his family, his aging father and his love in search of greener pastures. While his dad puts all his life’s earning in buying the family a piece of land to build a house on and live together, CK has other priorities.

Priorities change dramatically and emotions take charge when the land is occupied by land mafia, a problem paramount in South Asia and a group so strong, even the best of law can only get concessions, not rights.

What does CK do to get his family their rights? Is there anything he can actually do? CK teams up with Meghna, the girl he likes to get the land back as he realizes how much she and his own family matter to him. The movie touches key issues in relationships but the mood throughout is light. Not humorous but light.

Good clean fun.
